Touchscreens - They're Not Just For Smartphones..

Touchscreen used to be the domain only of smartphones, but now, non-smartphones account for some of the coolest touchscreens out there. Let's take a look at three of the coolest.

LG BL40 New Chocolate

LG have decided to do something a bit unorthodox with the LG BL40 New Chocolate, and what they've done is given it a 4 inch screen, with an unusual aspect ration. In other words, when you hold it in portrait mode, it's very long and thin. Also featuring the new touch-based S-Class UI, the LG BL40 New Chocolate is an incredible phone to use, with slick animations and smooth transitions between screens and menus. As well as the 5MP camera in the LG BL40 New Chocolate, you also get a stunning multimedia player, and super-fast internet access, making the LG BL40 New Chocolate one of the coolest camera phones out there.

Sony Ericsson Aino

If there's one name that really stands out in the world of music phones, it's 'Walkman'. What happens, though, if you take a Walkman phone, and give it an 8MP camera that's straight out of a Cyber-Shot phone, and re-christen it as an Entertainment Unlimited phone? You get the utterly brilliant Sony Ericsson Aino!

The combination of Walkman and Cyber-Shot is what makes the Sony Ericsson Aino, and the Entertainment Unlimited series as a whole, so very compelling. Top-end imaging is just a button-press away, and the Sony Ericsson Aino always makes music sound better than anything you can imagine. It doesn't have a smartphone OS, but you do get a touch-enabled media centre with the Sony Ericsson Aino. Just slide the phone closed, and it goes from being a standard phone into being a touchscreen portable multimedia player!

Samsung Jet

So, there's the Sony Ericsson Aino, with its double life of normal phone, and touch-enabled media player. And then, there's the LG BL40 New Chocolate, with that unique screen, and the S-Class interface. But coming soon from the OTHER Korean manufacturer is the new Samsung Jet, a touchscreen phone with a brand new interface, based on a 3D cube. Whilst it shares many design similarities with TouchWiz, the new Cubic UI in the Samsung Jet is a whole new experience, where you can flip between screens by dragging your finger, and rotating the cube round. The UI is brilliant, but in terms of feature, the Samsung Jet is no slouch, either. You get a 5 megapixel camera, HSDPA, and a superb web browser, and although the Samsung Jet isn't a smartphone (nor meant to be one), it's one of the nicest feature phones out there.
